Tax Deductions for Home Owners
It’s that taxing time of year! Be sure to double check your deductions to make sure you aren’t missing deductions related to owning a home, buying a home, or selling a home. In addition to property taxes and mortgage interest deductions that most homeowners qualify for, if you bought or sold a home in 2009 you might also be able to deduct items paid at the time of settlement, or closing, such as points paid which also may be called loan origination fee’s, loan discounts, or discount points as well as mortgage interest paid at closing. To determine what deductions you qualify for contact your tax preparer.

Energy Star Appliance Rebate for Texas Residents
Texans will soon be able to receive federal stimulus funds through a US Department of Energy program that offers rebates for the purchase of new Energy Star rated home applicances. During the period of April 16th through April 25th, this new mail in rebate program will provide rebates on purchases of qualifying refrigerators, freezers, washers, water heaters, furnaces, and air conditioners.
